However, these respirators need quick replacement. There are also R series filters which are oil resistant and can be worn in oily environments. However, they can be worn only once. Then there are P series filters which are oil resistant too but can be worn more than once.

Respiratory cartridges are generally made from a cloth-like filter material. However, there are gas masks and chemical masks that have different facepiece materials including rubber, silicone and neoprene. Rubber and neoprene are the most preferred materials for these industrial filters as they are rigid and durable. However, silicone is used for comfort and ease in cleaning.
